May 13, 2025LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There are several ways you can help victims of the southeastern Kentucky Tornado without leaving Louisville.
SOS International, which is headquartered in the Irish Hill neighborhood, is collecting items like Band-Aids, bandages, and other first aid items.

Denise Sears, the president and CEO of SOS International, said she already took down a carload of supplies on Saturday.
“We took down between $5,000 to $7,000 worth of dressings. Everything from Band-Aids to gauze to tape,” said Sears.
But after responding to so many natural disasters over the past several months, Sears said, they’re now the ones in need.
“We’ve depleted our supplies of dressings and Band-Aids. We’ve depleted our disaster relief funds,” said Sears. “Everybody goes to the grocery store, everybody goes to the drugstore. Bring your kids with you. And while you’re there, buy a couple boxes of Band-Aids and drop them off. Or go to our Amazon wish list, which is on social media. And if you can’t do those, go, ‘You know what? I’m going to help them any way and donate a few dollars.'”
Sears said donating items directly to an organization is the best way to ensure your donation will actually help someone in need.
“Don’t go delivering things yourself because you may not be delivering the right things, and you may actually be creating more confusion and delivering things that they can’t even use. So choose an organization like SOS. and say, ‘I want to help,'” said Sears.
