Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers support the SOS mission by sorting medical supplies to prepare them to be redistributed where needed around the world. WE COULD NOT complete our mission to enhance global health without the extraordinary efforts of our volunteers.

If you are an individual looking for a volunteer activity, or a large school, corporate or church group wanting to volunteer together, we would love to have you. Our maximum capacity for groups is 30 individuals.

What Can We Do To Generate Excitement About An Upcoming Volunteer Experience?

Band Aid
  • Collect Medical Supplies (Glasses, Walkers, Canes, Crutches, Gauze, Band-Aids, First Aide, Removable Casts, Hospital Supplies, etc) Note: We not accept liquids, medications or nutrition) – Suggestions for collecting medical supplies and equipment.
  • Make Team T-shirts
  • Consider a Group Donation to SOS

If you want to double your impact and involvement, you can help collect medical supplies before your visit. You can do that by reaching out to neighbors, church, schools or clubs you belong to. Here are some items we frequently need:

  1. First aid Items. SOS often runs low on personal first aid and hygiene items including bandaids, feminine protection, gauze.
  2. Mobility equipment in good working order. Crutches, canes, walkers, boots, home health equipment that friends and family no longer need can find a home through us.
  3. Reading glasses, prescription eyeglasses. Your old eyewear can have a new purpose in foreign countries where they are desperately needed.

Q: What Should We Wear?
A: Our warehouse is partially climate controlled. We invite you to dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes. You may be looking small print on supplies – those who wear “reader/cheaters” consider bringing your glasses.

Q: Can Children Volunteer at SOS?
A: Due to the nature of the materials that volunteers sort (e.g. sharp objects, medical supplies), please be aware that we have a minimum age requirement of 16 years of age. For children that wish to support the mission of SOS, we welcome the opportunity provide a tour and develop a classroom, club or service project that is fun and educational.
