SOS Aids Refugees Arriving In Louisville

Refugees who reach Louisville arrive with few or no belongings. Their journey here for most has been long and difficult, some families literally carrying disabled family members for the duration of the journey. Once here, the wait for medical care can be long. In a special partnership with Kentucky Refugee Ministries, SOS is providing refugees with needed medical items.

Recently the SOS Local Health Program Manager and Nurse Practitioner received a call for help from a newly resettled refugee family from Syria through Kentucky Refugee Ministries. Their daughter suffers from cerebral palsy and the family did not have the needed items to care for their daughter. SOS donated two transport chairs (one specialty chair and one stroller that will fold up and is easily transportable), a bath chair, and transfer board. The family was overjoyed to see their daughter’s needs met and to feel so embraced by the caring SOS team.
